Happy Thanksgiving! Week 2 recap - Oct 11, 2024

Hey everyone. Sorry for the delay.
Here is our week 2 quick recap.

Sabres vs Slayers

Slayer keeper Peter Regimbald was a no go tonight so Adam Larder jumped in. First of all thanks for that.
Aiden Walsh was all fired up and grabbed a couple of quick goals to get this one started. Jonathan Hunson and Anil Snook answered back but a Brett Dempsey tallied twice to end the period and it was Sabres up 4-2 after the first.
Scott Cross poked one by Craig Burgoyne to start the second, but Spencer Foulkes and Hunson tallied and it was 5-4 Sabres after the second.
The third saw the Slayers even it up on a goal from Anil Snook but the Sabres tallied three and that gave them the win.
8-5 win for the Sabres.
Big shout out to Dylan Warren for a great performance backstopping his cre for the win. Dylan is this week’s HFHL Player of the Week. Awesome job Dylan!

Hackers vs Chill

Chill gotta boss team on paper. Hackers do to, but not when key guys stay home! First period saw the Hackers score three goals before the Chill stopped the bleeding. Ryland Smith and Myles Raymond teamed up twice while rookie Max Mailhot added one from Tyler Winsor. Jordan Castilloux had the lone tally for the Chill.
Second period saw Kyle Bradbury wake up and he sniped a couple to start it off. But the Hackers nailed down four in a row and had a 7-3 lead after the second.
The Chill scored three in the third, but the Hackers grabbed two of their own. This gave them the 9-6 victory. Rylans Smith had 3 goals and 3 helpers to get the 5th spot oin our scoring race. Great game here.

Lynx vs Fire

The Fire look to be the early favs this season with a very powerful forward squad. This was evident when this one started. Joe Murphy grabbed the first goal but Sammy The Man Haliburton evened it up. Logan Jeddry hot off his big performance in game one, scored the go ahead goal and then things got busy for Adam Larder. Joe Murphy, Eric Gale, Geoff Briggs and Rob T all added to the Fire lead. 6-1 Fire after the first.
Eddie Briggs was trying to fire his boys up, no pun intended, and grabbed a beauty goal to start the second, but Justin Logan took a feed from Geoff Briggs to answer back. The Lynx went on a mini run scoring the next three goals. One by Gord Fitzpatrick stands out as he made a super effort and was rewarded with his tally. 7-4 Fire after two.
The third saw Joe Murphy add two more to the score sheet and this one ended in a dominant 9-4 win for the Fire.
Worth while to note, that if Adam Larder had not played as he did, this one would have been far worse. Larder faced 67 shots in this game and it was his second of the night. Kudos to you brother.

So that’s all she wrote, well he wrote. I’m Billy Concarney saying so long and Happy Thanksgiving. Take some time to reflect on the blessings you have in your life. It’s not always evident in the darker times, but gratitude and anxiety cannot exist in your brain at the same time.
Peace to you all
