At the start of the 2001A ADCfhl the Slayers looked on paper much improved over last seasons team. Not only were leading scorers, the brothers Royal, coming back but former league scoring champ Sean Currie was added to booster the Slayer attack. With the D anchored by Jake "the Magician" Haddad and Cory "I Eat Nails" MacLellan, the Slayers looked to challenge for the ADCfhl crown.
Oh how the mighty fall. With rookies Greg Savoie and Ryan Burgess in and out of the line-up and the ongoing contract/floor time dispute between Currie and Captain Paul Chui, the Slayers finished the season with a disheartening 2 - 8 record. When asked about his plans for next season, Jason Royal was heard to remark "that's it, I can play for Chui any longer. I can't stomach his overbearing style or his wining about remembering when it meant something to be a Slayer."
With a truce called between Chui and his star players and steady Rob Sasco expected to log heavy floor time after his promotion from the 3rd line, the playoffs look like a time for the Slayers to make some noise. Facing the Chill in the 1st round of the playoffs, the Slayers look to reverse two losses earlier in the season.
