Week 4 Recap - Oct 07, 2025

Hey ho ladies and gents. This Billy Yon Concarney here with the low down on what happened at the Fish Bowl last night.
So…let’s get er’ done!!

Fire vs Lynx

The Fire struggling to get numbers had a short bench against the full squad Lynx.
The Fire opened up the scoring with two quick ones and Lynx captain Sam “Your Kiddin’” Whidden shaved the lead to one on a feed from Matt “give my guitar a” Strum. Not typing that every freaking time he is in the news…tell ya that right now!
Then old veteran Mike Gélinas scored his second of the period to give the Fire a 3-1 lead after the 1st.
Ryan “The Merchant” Demerchant nabbed two goals out of the Fire’s 5 in the second while the Lynx added two more of their own, Fire lead 8-3 after the second.
The Lynx started looking like the team we thought they would be when they came out in the 3rd grabbing 4 goals until Mike Gélinas capped of his hat trick night and took this one to the bank giving the Fire the 9-7 lead and effectively the win. So yea, Fire win 9-7

Sabres Vs Chill

Well hooha! What a doozy this one was. The Sabres grabbed the first goals and had the early…short lived lead. Brett “The Jet” Dempsey had 4 goals as the Sabres started sprinting away with this one notching a total of 6 goals and taking what looked like an insurmountable 6-1 lead into the second.
But we all know that the tide can turn pretty quickly, and this one did like a tsunami in the Pacific when the Chill blew up the second scoring not one, not two but 5 goals before Brett The Jet tallied his 5th to stop the bleeding. 7-6 Sabres after two.
The third saw the Chill roll along scoring 4 goals to start the period before…guess who…Brett “The Jet” Dempsey grabbed his 6th goal for a coveted double hatty!!! Way to go Brett, unfortunately, it was all for not except maybe a Timmy’s card. The Chill take this one by a score of 11-8 in a comeback win for the ages.

Slayers vs Hackers

The Mylesless Hackers, missing their captitan extraordinaire were facing the  power house draft night cheats Slayers in the final match of the night.
Mark Butyn told McGeen to stay home for this one to try and take the heat off the leagues investigation into draft night shenanigans by the rookie captain. But yea, never mattered…or would it? Let’s take a look.
The Slayers came out slaying with a 4 goals 1st spurred on by the yapping and goal of one Kevin “Jeff’s Bro” Shute. Brad Green picked up the lone Hacker tally on a feed from Liam “get off a” McLeod. 4-1 Slayers
The second started like the first, 4 goals by the Slayers. But the Hacks were not going to just take it…they scored three of their own after being inspired by Tyler “the wonder” Winsor after he came back from a vicious shot to the lower extremities. 8-4 Slayers
The third saw Craig “The Gargoyle” Burgoyne stand on his proverbial head making some big saves. This gave the Hacks the chance they needed to get close….and close they came, scoring three goals to make it 8-7. But close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades and unfortunately, this ain’t either. When it was all said and done, the Hacks had made a valiant effort but still came up short…all we heard from the Hackers bench in the end was “if we only had shaggy”

Well, that’s all we got folks. Congrats to Brett “The Jet” Dempsey for his 6 goal and 1 helper performance which has earned him a trip to Timmie’s as this weeks HFHL Player of the week. Way to go fly boy!
Have great break and Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Remember, we all have something to be thankful for. Gratitude beats anxiety.

Be well peeps!
Brett Dempsey this weeks HFHL player of the week
