Barriault Makes First Start of Season - 10/29/1999 4:34:08 PM

After last week's 21-8 pounding by the LAN Hackers, the Keane Fire have made their first goaltending change. Stephen Barriault, the team's primary backup, made his first start of the season against the Lite-Sabres Thursday night. Barriault started one game last year, recording a 6.00 GAA and a 0.786 save percentage in 2 periods of play.

This time around Barriault played the entire three periods but was unfortuantely was facing a re-vamped Lite-Sabres team. The Keane Fire countered with a defensive line formed of 3 career defencemen, Barry Harvey, Chris Bleichert and Mike Griffiths. The line was then topped off with team-leading scorer Kevin Haddad. It was to no avail however, the Lite-Sabres came with too much scoring power in the form of Chris McMaster, Peter Rinco and rookie Steve Chaisson who each scored 4+ goals. When the dust settled, the score was 17-10 Lite-Sabres. After the game, Barriault was pleased with his performance against such a high-powered offence but did not think that he would be playing next week. We anticipate that we will see goaltender Mike Griffiths back between the pipes as the Fire face the team tied with them for last, the Sunnydale Slayers.
