After eight successful seasons with John Dulong as their captain, the Hackers turned to new captain John Price to captain them back to glory. And seven games into the 2003A season, things are going according to plan.
A big part of the Hackers' 6-1 start has been the dynamic forward line of Jamie Houghton and Donnie Bailey. The chemistry between these two has thus far led to 62 total points between them.
Price, as usual, has been no slouch either, leading the league in goals, 27, and points, 40. And rookie goaltender Jim Bain has been solid when called upon, posting a .815 save percentage.
But the true test for the Hackers will likely come playoff time, where they almost always seem to have to go through the pesky Lite-Sabres. In fact, the Sabres and the Hackers have met in 7 of the 8 playoff seasons in league history, with the Hackers winning four of those seven meetings. However, the Sabres have won the last three meetings between the two squads in the championship game.
