Typo!

This is Billy Concarney here with a recap of the happenings at the Fish Bowl last night.

If you have been following, last night was the culmination of a season of tight games and hoopla that ended up with the regular season 1 and 2 teams facing off against each other for the championship game.

The Hackers, who had a boss season finishing first overall had their hands full facing the offensive machine know as teh Slayers. 

The Slayers were missing arguably their offensive difference maker in TJ “ I’m kind of like Chuck” Norris and Kevin “I wish I could” Shute. The Hackers were missing Aaron “Shaggy” Brown and Liam “Hey you get off a” McLeod.

So, 6 on 6 battle royal ready to happen….

Period one was a quick start with the Hacks scoring on their first shot when last years MVP, Tyler Winsor buried a slapper on a feed from AJ Brown. But the Slayers answered back with Aidan Walsh nailing his own snipe on a feed from rookie sensation Teddy McGeen. All tied up…Tommie Winsor took the lead back for the Hackers on a pass from Myles Raymond but then AJ brown got caught in a high stick call, and Breton Wilson tied it up in a scrum in front from Aidan Walsh. 

Tyler Winsor capitalized on a turn over with his second followed by Tommie’s second on a feed from Brad Green. Teddy McGeen took a pass from Aidan Walsh and made it count and after the first, we had a 4-3 game with the Hackers leading

The second saw McGeen grab another that tied it up on a pass from Mark Butyn. But seconds later Brad Green, who was left all alone at the side of the net, whacked a ball past Larder to get the lead back. Aidan Walsh kept the Slayers in it on a pass from Mark Butyn, but again Brad Green answered back for the Hacks on a pass from AJ Brown and then AJ added a goal from Tommie W and after the second the Hackers had a 7-5 lead.

The third saw things stay close early on as each team traded a goal…but then the Hackers showed why they finished first and tallied four unanswered and when the final whistle went, the Hackers had amazed a 12-6 win and were able to repeat as champs!

It was a good hard fought game, and one can only wonder what would have happened if the missing elements had been present, but for now, the truth is the truth…and The Havkers are the 2025B HFHL Champs.

Well done gents!

The league also named Hacker Brad Green as the playoff MVP, which gives him a free pass into the next season. Brad had 4 goals and 2 helpers in the finals but played an instrumental part in the Hackers success with his tenacious but clean play. Way to go Brad.

So that’s a wrap. The registration email will go out later this week so we can have our numbers figured out for the 2026A season slated to start January 5th with preseason and draft night.

We want to thank Rob “The Rhino” Tyrrell for his leadership at the helm of the Fire ove the last few season and we welcome new captain Anil Snook to the spot.

I also wanted to thank those who volunteered as captains and refs as well, especially during my absence after surgery.

I need to say a big thank you to Rob Tyrrell and Matt Monk for their dedication and help throughout the season. If not for them I would not be doing this.
