This is Billy Concarney here to set things up for the next week of the HFHL.

We started our play offs last night at the PRCC Fish Bowl and it did not disappoint.

Game 1 saw the Slayers hosting the Lynx. Last week these two teams faced off and it was a 17-14 battle.

Well, this week saw much of the same. A lot of TJ Norris and Matt Strum notching goals and assists galore.

After all was said and done, the Slayers punched their card to the next round with a 13-11 win. Now, the waiting game for the Lynx to see whether they get another game or not.

Game 2 had the Hackers taking on the Sabres. 1 vs 6…but if we learned anything this season, it is that there can be upsets at any given night. The Sabres jumped out hard and took a 3-1 lead into the second.the Hackers took the second period battle by out scoring the Sabres 3-1 and we had a 4-4 tie into the third.

The third saw each team trade goals and it wasn’t until late in the period that the Hackers grabbed a lead and held it until the end. Hacker move on with the 6-5 win and the Sabres bump the Lynx out of the last spot with one more game to go this night.

Game 3…Chill hosted the visiting Fire and this was a pretty even match up. He Chill grabbed the only two goals of the first and headed into the second with the 2 zip lead. The Fire out scored the Chill 4-3 in the second but found themselves down 5-4 with one more period. 

Both goalies are stingy in the third making some great saves, but the Fire managed to sneak one past Boudreau and evened it up. And that my friends was how it ended…5-5. This meant that both teams were headed to the next round.

So, after the first round we have the following set up for next week’s Semis

7:00 PM - Chill vs Slayers (Slayers are home)

8:00 PM Fire vs Hackers (Hackers are home)

We want to thank the Sabres and the Lynx for great seasons and putting a valiant effort in the first round. 

Also, this week’s Timmy’s HFHL Player of the Week Honors goes to TJ Norris, way to go TJ!
